x factor is not the uk version of american idol at all, american idol is the american vesion of Xfactor, infact yearrrrs ago xfactor used to be called "pop idol" and thats what america copied of so we changed our name to Xfactor, even the logo for pop idol is the same as american idol that we had ages before ur american idol

Simon Cowell is the producer of America's Got Talent. He wanted to be a judge on it as well but as it clashed with American Idol he couldn't. He brought it to America because he can make a hell of a lot more money with the bigger audience. He doesn't miss a trick that one.
