Good info. I have struggled to solder on LED lighting leads without damaging the LED's diodes from high temperatures. Possibly the solder wasnt lead type and had a higher melting temp.

Very nice video, I'll pass it along to people I run into who ask how to solder! :-)
I don't quite agree with trimming leads before soldering though. Seems like you'd end up (especially novices) with lots of leads either too long and require retrimming after soldering or worse yet, leads that are too short to make a good connection.
With a sharp pair of the right kind of flush cutters (like the ones Erem make etc) I doubt you'd ever do any damage to a good solder join IMHO.

That is probably the one part of the vid that we'd change if done over again. The pre-trimming is only necessary for military grade electronics, as far as I'm aware now.

i am using tin lead alloy on my xbox 360 controller to modify it but i am finding it hard to melt the solder on the circuit board before i melt a component
